Energy

What is energy and why do I need it?
Every living organism needs energy in order to "function". The body can utilize three energy sources: carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Proteins consist of broken down amino acids and are also referred to as "building blocks of life".
Many important tasks in the body depend on sufficient energy being available:
- Maintenance of body heat
- Maintenance of physical functions, such as muscle activity, digestion, organ functions, etc.
- Maintenance of mental functions
- Growth
- Build-up and growth of skin, hair & nails
- Metabolic activities
Amino acids are involved in numerous metabolic processes in the body. As protein building blocks, they perform essential tasks in the formation of proteins, muscle fibers, skin cells, hormones, enzymes, and neurotransmitters. They are indispensable for us.
When do I need particularly much energy?
There are diverse and very individual situations or life phases in which more energy than usual is needed. Not only when the body is particularly stressed, but also the mind:
- Stress
- Learning & exam phases
- Getting older
- Sport
- Growth & puberty
A good supply of protein and nutrients is particularly important during such phases.
What can I do if I have increased energy requirements?
The foundation is a balanced diet with sufficient protein from pulses, dairy products, eggs, fish or meat. If you would like to supplement, Priosa® energy and Priosa® energy drink offer combinations of amino acids and vitamins. Vitamin B6, vitamin B12 and vitamin C contribute to normal energy-yielding metabolism.
