Cold season

How is vitamin D formed?

The days get shorter, the sun sits lower and we can feel that the strength of the sun's rays has diminished. Particularly between October and March, one topic comes into focus: the supply of the so-called sunshine vitamin – vitamin D.

It can either be absorbed through food or produced in the body with the help of UV-B rays. Especially in our latitudes, we do not receive sufficient UV-B rays during the cold season, and at the same time our bare skin is hardly exposed to light due to low temperatures. The result: In winter, our body produces little or no vitamin D. The body now draws on the vitamin D it stored during the summer.

Why does my body need vitamin D?

Vitamin D performs important tasks in the body: vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and teeth, contributes to the maintenance of normal muscle function and contributes to the normal function of the immune system.

Why is vitamin D a topic in summer too?

Many people work in offices or other enclosed spaces and spend little time outdoors even in summer. Whether a vitamin D supplement makes sense for you is best clarified with your GP.

What helps during the dark season?

Go outside every day if possible, ideally around midday, keep moving and maintain a regular sleep rhythm. Priosa® immun contains vitamin C and vitamin D, among other nutrients. Vitamins C and D contribute to the normal function of the immune system.
