Only the purest form

Before we talk more about the PriosaLIPON series, there is something to be said about alpha-lipoic acid. Alpha-lipoic acid has the right- and left-handed variants. Alpha lipoic acid is also often used to read about various side effects. These are solely due to the levorotatory alpha-lipoic acid.

In regular alpha-lipoic acid products, both variants are often represented with a 50/50 proportion. For the products of Sanopoly, however, only the right-handed variant, the R-alpha-lipoic acid, will be used. One can assume that even with extreme overdose no side effects occur.

Medical significance

The R-alpha-lipoic acid can either donate or take up an electron. Free radicals, which damage the cells, lack an electron - here, the R-alpha-lipoic acid gives off an electron. It can also re-activate previously used antioxidants (such as Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Q10, or Glutathione) through the uptake of an electron.

In short, this means that it plays an elementary role in the cell metabolism processes of aerobic creatures (including humans). Their effect goes to the nuclear power plants of the cell, the mitochondria.

Quite simply versatile

It is also interesting that the properties between water solubility and lipid solubility can be changed by the electron uptake and release described above and thus the R alpha-lipoic acid can penetrate different tissue layers. As a result, it also passes through the blood-brain barrier.

Thus, we recognize that R-alpha lipoic acid in its pure form has unbelievably positive properties for humans. That's why many therapists use Sanopoly's LIPON R range for a variety of therapies. Some are listed here:

1 - Diabetes mellitus 

All diabetic comorbidities are caused by free radicals (circulatory disorder, hypertension, nerve damage, arteriosclerosis, cataracts, etc.).

Very clear effects are achieved by radical scavengers. Here, the combination of radical-catching vitamins (PriosaVIT) and R-alpha-lipoic acid (PriosaLIPON R) (maximum effective PriosaLIPON R Forte) has proven itself.

Also, the blood sugar uptake into the cell [which is limited in diabetes] can be increased by more than 50% by activating special molecules by Priosa LIPON R. (Studies: Passwater 1995, Biewenga et al 1997. Ley 1996)

On top of that, PriosaLIPON R increases insulin sensitivity. That is, the insulin receptors on the cell become more responsive again, leaving the sugar in the cell (opposite to insulin resistance) (study: Ziegler et al., 1999).

And if that's not enough, PriosaLIPON R helps reduce liver breakdown and reduce fat storage.

Free radicals destroy the vascular walls, as a side effect in diabetes. It comes to arteriosclerosis as emergency repair in the vessel walls. As a result, the nutrients can no longer penetrate from the blood stream through the vessel wall into the tissue. This leads to a shortage of hands and feet. (Study: Ziegler et al 1999) Alpha-lipoic acid (R + L mixed form) even has a drug approval in Germany, how much more should the pure form R-alpha-lipoic acid actually be used for it.

Diabetics often have an intracellular vitamin C deficiency. Investigations by Dr. Pfaffly showed in 2001 that R-alpha lipoic acid can counteract vitamin C deficiency in the cell; so also with scurvy symptoms.

2-Recycling of antioxidants

As already mentioned, the special potential of PriosaLIPON R lies in the regeneration of other antioxidants, which in turn can do their job on the radical front!

The most important antioxidants with which R-alpha-lipoic acid acts are glutathione, vitamin C, vitamin E and coenzyme Q10.

If, for example, vitamin E intercepts a lipid radical, it is itself oxidized to a radical - it is stolen by the lipid radical so an electron. This electron gets back vitamin E from the vitamin C, which is in liquid form inside the cell. The vitamin C in turn keeps harmless to the di-hydro-lipoic acid, which is easily oxidized to R-alpha-lipoic acid. The latter two can be easily interconverted by alpha-keto-dehydrogenase (Colman and Packer, 2000).

Thus, PriosaLIPON R provides the ideal regeneration partner for the primary radical scavengers in the body.

Again figuratively explained, the primary radical scavengers (such as vitamin C and vitamin E) are the soldiers at the front (in the cell against free radicals). Vitamin E adds an electron to the free radical to neutralize it. So vitamin E is no longer capable of action, the ammunition is empty. If the soldiers lose the ammunition (electrons), then the R-alpha-lipoic acid is the car with new ammunition.

3 - Heavy metal detoxification and reduction of radiation damage

Essential for environmental physicians are so-called chelating agents, which can include metals and toxic fat-soluble substances and precipitate them in a water-soluble manner. The problem with alien chelating agents (DMPS, DMSA, Ca-EDTA, etc.) is that they also bind the desired metal ions (iron, zinc, manganese, etc.) and drain them from the body - how fatal! If the amount of poisoning is very high, medically the administration of these chelating agents is naturally necessary.

The R-alpha-lipoic acid, a natural chelating agent, can bind heavy metals (lead, cadmium, arsenic, etc.) and excrete them via the kidney without removing important metal ions from the body.

Also, results and studies from disaster areas (Korkina et al., 1993) show the amazingly good results in radiation accidents with radioactivity.

4 – Lens protection (eyes)

Due to metabolic diseases, to sugary diet or diabetes mellitus, the blood sugar goes out of balance and there are unwanted glyco-proteins; so-called Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs) - bonded proteins: Skin ages faster and the proteins in the eye lens stick together and become cloudy.

The formation of the AGEs is slow and - to the knowledge 2018 - no longer reversible. Therefore, this process is progressing in old age.

The good news: Clinical studies (Bierhaus et al., 1997) showed that the administration of saccharified proteins reduced the level of antioxidants and mediated vascular inflammation.

But this loss of antioxidants and formation inflammation could be completely prevented by the administration of R-alpha-lipoic acid (PriosaLIPON R). So preventively, you can be active.

5 - Transport function & protection for building materials that are difficult to transport in the cell

PriosaLIPON R is present in fatty medium as R-alpha-lipoic acid and in aqueous medium as dihydrolipoic acid. This conversion occurs only by release / uptake of an electron. So PriosaLIPON R can also easily cross the blood-brain barrier.

It appears that also the fatty acids used in the brain, e.g. Omega 9, by the simultaneous presence of R-alpha-lipoic acid, which protects fatty acids and brings more easily to the brain. In addition, the R-alpha-lipoic acid can also be coupled to substances that come through these barriers only with difficulty or sporadically and thus enhance their effect. (see point 9)

6 - Blood vessel protection

Infarcts and cardiovascular failure are at the top of the list of causes of death. It is also worth taking a look here. There are several, very exciting, confirmed metabolic phenomena about the vascular benefit of R-alpha-lipoic acid. A few, also experienced in practice, studies we have selected as an example:

R-alpha-lipoic acid reduces oxidative stress and homocysteine-induced vascular endothelial damage
2nd Study: Zang, Frei 2001
They found that alpha-lipoic acid reduces the signals that promote atherosclerosis.
3rd study: Packer, Colman 2000
The use of alpha-lipoic acid increases the vitamin E content in LDL fat particles and can protect the heart from the consequences of an infarction by 50% (reperfusion damage)
4th study: Passwater 1995
Alpha-lipoic acid lowers cholesterol levels in the blood and blood vessels by 40% and oxygen uptake into various tissues increases by 70-120%, depending on the tissue.

7 - PriosaLIPON R and nervous system

Alzheimer's dementia Patients who had been given alpha-lipoic acid because of diabetic polyneuropathy (nerve dysfunction caused by sugar) showed at least a cessation of dementia, and in some cases even an improvement (Münch et al., 2000).
Another indication that free radicals are involved in the formation of protein deposits in the brain (in Alzheimer's) is that one found oxidized lipids in the brain tissue posthumously (Study Packer, Colman 2000) and that the NF-kB, which is an inflammatory parameter, increased was.

PriosaLIPON penetrates the blood-brain barrier and centrally regenerates the antioxidants vitamin E, vitamin C, glutathione and Q10. These counteract the nerve decay. Also, R-alpha lipoic acid improves glucose uptake into nerve cells for energy. (see point 9)

8 - Protection of genes

In simple words, free radicals can turn on certain gene segments, which in turn initiate inflammation. The keyword is "transcription error". Probably the biggest inflammation value is NF-kB. NF-kB is activated by inflammatory mediators such as UV light, bacteria, viruses, AGEs, etc. through several intermediate steps. NF-kB can dock on different gene sections and turn on this "defense control". These senseless activations "stress" the cell and the regular cell function suffers.

PriosaLIPON R is capable of trapping free radicals as stressors, balancing excessive NF-kB function, and eliminating disruption from external stimuli at an early stage.

9 – The combination L-glutathione

PriosaLIPON R Forte (Forte = with glutathione) works closely with the antioxidants Vitamin E, Vitamin C and Q10. In addition to the effects of R-alpha lipoic acid described above to trap radicals, glutathione can also regenerate vitamins C and E.

The oral intake of glutathione is pointless because it can not penetrate to the sites of action. For PriosaLIPON R Forte, glutathione is therefore linked to a transporter - R-alpha-lipoic acid. This allows glutathione to overcome all obstacles and reach the cell, the mitochondria. This is only available at Sanopoly.

As stated in the introduction, the secret lies in the fact that the R-alpha-lipoic acid can easily change its texture depending on the environment (greasy or watery). So you can easily overcome the blood-brain barrier and makes this molecule combination the ideal anti-headache preparation.

Because it contains sulfur, glutathione has many important functions in the body (detoxification, DNA repair, structure formation of proteins, coenzyme function, anti-aging, etc.).
